Default B5 Audi A4 Avant (UK) Speakers Question

Hi, im new here and i've done some searches and found some threads about the stock (Bose System) speakers, but no threads about the power output of these speakers in WATTS or RMS WATTS. From what i've gathered, the front door tweeters are 3/4" in physical size, the front door speakers are 4" components and the rear door speakers are 6" components. I have the Avant model, so theoretically, i should have a sub somewhere, so if anyone can clarify this, or explain more about this i would appreciate that aswell. So basically, i would like to know the approx power in Watts and Watts RMS for each sets or speakers in the car, and a confirmation of the physical sizes, and also, on a scale of 1-10 how easy it is to replace all the speakers with powerful ones, replace the sub, and install an amp.

Thanks

Dan

Well, you would want to replace the head unit for the maximum performance out of your new speakers. Otherwise, you wont get much of a difference.
And you really dont need to know how much power your stock speakers are rated for, bc anything you replace them with will be better than what you have.
Realistically, you are probably getting 15-20watts rms to the front and rear, and if you have a sub, probably 50-100 rms.
As far as the sizes go, I have a b5 sedan and I believe that I have 5.25 components in the front and 6.5 coaxials in the rear. I am upgrading my whole system this weekend though so I could let you know then once I finally pull off the door panel. You could always look on crutchfield.com to know your exact speaker sizes.
On the 1-10 scale, I would give the install an ease of 2. But that is bc I have experience with audio systems and find it very easy, the hardest part is getting the damn door panels off on these cars...lol.

Lol first off it's nowhere near a 2.

He says he has the premium sound from Bose, which means in order to replace the headunit and speakers, he needs to bypass the factory amplifier. That means running new speaker wire to the headunit or external amplifier, which is a PITA in most circumstances. I mean lets be honest.. Taking doorpanels off is a hell of a task without breaking clips, but to run speaker wire all through the weatherstripping throughout the car? Hardly a 2. Maybe on a car without the premium sound.

I personally also have a b5, the 2001.5 1.8tqm, with the premium sound. Of course, I switched it out for Polk SR6500's in the front (Had to custom fit 6.5" speakers into a 5.25" requirement) along with the same 6500 series in the rear deck, with the tweeters affixed to the cone. Also have an Eclipse AVN7000 providing the sound processing and navigation. Trust me, from doing the install myself with 3 amps and 2 12" subs as well, that the wiring on the premium package is by no means simple for someone who hasn't played around with the car yet.
