Understand you exactly. I had the same decision. They are in the same price range right now. High milage b5 s4 or 30-50k B6. I also choose the B6. The s4 would have a very costly $$$$$$$$$ decision with 90-100k. Most people who buy s4's dont drive them easy.

I prefer the b6 body style but I'd choose the b5 S4 without hesitation.
