Was driving my 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro last night. About 1/4 mile after I started it I was going about 35 mph and it started stalling, like the tranny was going out. I drove it another 1/4 mile and it died in the middle of the road. It acts like it wants to start, turns over, i even hear it rev while giving it gas and turning the key, but it dies immediately, not even getting fully started. Has anyone experienced this problem? It's not out of gas and the battery is fine. 79,xxx miles.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

im wiling to bet it's either ur fuel pump or MAF

Mass Air Flow sensor. it's in ur air box. disconnect the wirin to it and see if the car runs

 

Mass Air Flow sensors are known to go around 85K mi.

 

get the codes ( guessing costs money ) so do it right

 

could it also be fowled plugs?

Hey, check with you local dealer...i have a 2003 A4 1.8Tq Tip, and there is a recall on the fuel pump...also says that it will stall out of nowhere on cars...and that is the reason for the recall...i got mine done...took them a few hours...and i was done... noticed a better MPG after the new fuel pump was in too!!! Call them...see if your car qualifies with the recall....
