B6 Coolant Temp Sensor Mount
I think I blew it. I was replacing a faulty coolant temp sensor, but the clip was in backwards. I used a screwdriver to pry it away from the sensor body, but since I couldn't see what was going on, I missed the clip and accidentally broke part of the top of the tube away. I was able to successfully replace the sensor and get the clip back in the right way, but I see that a portion of the tube that broke is suppose to hold the back of one side of the clip. One side of where the clip goes is fine, the other, there is nothing holding the back part of the clip (there is still a portion holding the front part of the clip so there is something holding it in 3 spots instead of 4). Is this going to be trouble later on down the road? It appears to be water tight now.
do u mean you cracked a piece of the coolant flange? cause if you did a new one is only 20 bucks. just keep it like it is and go for a drive, then check the back of the block and see if there are ain't pink/white trails or spots anywhere, top of tranny is where it usually falls. if there isn't any your good to go, if there is just buy a new coolant flange.
yeah its a PITA cause of such little space, but its not that bad. i did it the first time in ~45 min, second time ~20 min, and with the right tools it could be done in like 10.
a lot of people spent several hours doing it... its not hard, just a PITA to reach... Im fixing to do it, my TB, and VVG/cam ten gasket... fun fun, im sure i will hate my car quite quickly
