Yeah AWD is definitly less fun that RWD for basic street driving.. I have a blast being able to punch it and spin the tires wheneevr.... but AWD has a feeling like no other car, its great.... Plus its awesome when your rallying backroads with it

first audi never made a rwd car, so where would you get the transmission at?, second how would the steering even work ie(cv joint, control arm),and last WHY?

Dude think about what your saying...... do you have any idea what he is trying to do.... Its NOT HARD to do...a quattro tranny with a modded center diff and its done, no probs... what in gods name are you worring about the steering??? its THE SAME, the steering wouldnt change at all, with a modded center diff and no front driveshafts there would be no problem... and last why..? BECASUE THATS WHAT HE WANTS...

but he has fwd not quattro and he doesn't want a awd with a bias transfer case, so that would mean he needs a rwd trany. do you know what he is trying to do?

Dude, youre confused. If he takes an AWD tranny, then gets the center diff modified he will then have a RWD car out of the AWD tranny. Audi doesnt make 20 different bodies for all the FWD and AWD applications in each model. So as he said the rear is punched out for AWD tranny and diff to be used. Badluck knows what hes talking about.

lol yes I know what he is trying to do, and I know its not that hard.. yea it would take some money but its not that hard, an AWD tranny which, correct me if Im wrong but Audi does make those right?? and a center diff that is already made by stasis I believe.... cuz I KNOW there are RWD A4s out there.... I know what Im talkin about man..

Ok this is exactly what i wanted to hear, b/c i wanted to up the HP and TQ but the FWD won't handle the power and won't be able to get good enough traction anyways. So that started me thinking about a RWD conversion.

So if i am hearing all this correctly, I can take an AWD tranny from an A4 and convert it to only RWD?

Then use the same drive shaft to the rear wheels as the quattro?

Also i would need to change the whole rear suspension set up to handle the power, What kind of rear suspension set up would i need. I would like to go with an independent rear suspension set up if at all possible. Would the Quattro rear suspension and diff be able to handle 350+ whp. That is what i am going to shoot for.

Youre going to need to talk to the guys at H&R about that one. You have to realize a QT is setup for even power to all 4, so no that suspension wont work well for you. It will work, but not what you need. Youre going to need something stiffer up from and something softer in the rear, so when you stomp on it the car ducks into the rear suspension and plants the power to the pavement. Go with the Adjustable Bilsteins or Teins (but I dont know how they adapt to Audis). Your going to need damping as well. Spring wise Id contact H&R about what type of spring you should go with to achieve that hard/soft front/rear.
