B7 A4 - FWD vs Quattro
What do you think is faster? Which is better? I live in AZ, so not much rain, definitely no snow.
I have the FWD and I at first I didn't like it because it didn't have Audi's Quattro, but now I'm wondering if doesnt take as much power away from the wheels as the Quattro.
Any input?
Thanks.

Quattro is great for handling especially when you are pushing the car hard. You do have more power loss through the quattro system but most people will say its worth it just for the better grip in turns. I think it is worth getting even if you don't see much snow or rain where you live.
Since it wasn't my choice to get an AWD (I have the B7 FWD also)
I would have gotten the Quattro.
No matter what, it's always the better option. Other than that, I enjoy the FWD and I don't have any big big plans for it or plan on doing any type of racing.
EDIT: I think the FWD saves a little more gas than the Quattro (don't quote me on that) but I enjoy the gas mileage with this car.
If my calculations are right, the advertisement isn't quite correct. I get like 23mpg. Expected a little more.

the fwd is a bit lighter, and im sure the quattro system takes away a little bit of power...but you totally forget about that the first time you go around a familiar corner and dont even think about touching the brakes, as for the power loss, that can probably be made up for with like an air filter upgrade
+1 for quattro

Handeling. Quattro is much better
Accelleration. Quattro is faster off the line, and when modified, it will pu8t all the power to the ground. stock FWD vs AWD would be real close on the quarter, but modded, AWD would be faster

well not bust on u guys but buyint a fwd audi is like buying a vw. just using the words of some1 else on this forum. and yes flypenfly is correct except that u can enter a corner with a AWD a tiny bit faster and sharper.
as i've said before, i sold my midengine rear drive manual convertible to keep the front engine awd tip wagon. and that was before chipping. it handles that well. never, ever, ever say that bout a fwd. if you appreciate handling, its night and day. if you just want to go from a2b, it won't matter.
I had a FWD A3 a couple of weeks ago. I put it through some tests to see about which handles better. The Quattro is faster off the line, without question. You don't get all the torque going to the front, it gets distributed to all wheels and makes for a very fun takeoff. Coming out of turns, the Quattro is also better. Sticks to the road, no sliding like I had in the A3.
You can also do more mods to a Quattro. With a FWD, the car can only handle so much power. I test drove an Acura TL Type S. That car had about 286hp, but it's FWD. You hit the gass real hard, the front tires spin (if your stopped or not going very fast) and the car pulls to the right, torque steer. Nalley Audi had an A3 modified by stasis. They had it chipped, Cold Air Intake and Exhaust. The service manager told me without the Quattro the car is worthless.
