Default B7 A4 Quattro AC Not Working; Need Input

Hi All,
I bought my 2007 Audi A4 Quattro from a Lexus dealer here in CO back in December. I don't know about you guys, but when it's between 25-40 degrees out, I wouldn't think to use the AC system. Anyhow, now that it's in the 80's here, I went to turn on my AC and wouldn't ya know- it does not blow cold air. I tried calling the dealership, who assured me they inspected this prior to the sale and had no contract with me requiring them to fix it.

So, realizing I'm on my own with this, I had a friend who is a semi-truck mechanic look into a few of the "basic" issues regarding AC: checked the refrigerant levels (acceptable), checked the see that the fuses weren't blown (they aren't), and looked at the compressor... Well, the compressor is not kicking on or off with the AC unit engaged (the "climate control" system set to LO and on recirculation full blast).

Has anyone else experienced this? The car is in really great shape, so I have a hard time believing the compressor is shot... Are there any relays or computers that control the power to the compressor that could be causing it not to kick in? Are there any known issues with the AC unit in this model of A4? Is there a way to test for other electrical issues before saying it's the compressor and paying a ton of money to have that swapped?

Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated...

The first thing you need to try is check to see if any codes are present, its becoming more common for manufacturers to put in fail safes that shut the system down if codes are present. Also there may be codes in more than one module so you will need a scan tool that can get into all of the modules like a vag-com, there are a few other scan tools that will do it but you should be able to find someone on here around you that can do it for you. Then see if te codes return. I often see cars come into my shop with AC not working simply because the last person to work on it never thought to check for codes.
