not a problem as long as you get good heat flow into the cabin many gauges do that and not uncommon ( heat to the cabin is the main thing ) when it starts getting colder then there is an issue

It's called a thermocouple...in regular English it translates to an electric thermometer. Measure temp via electric resistance in the wire sensing the outside air.
