Just curious, whats the whp on a t3t4 setup? I'm guessing thats a BT which requires alot of spool. Which would be great on a drag strip but wouldn't a SC 2.8 be quicker around a tight track like say a street circuit. Sorry about the thread jacking.
well on my t3t4 i made 337whp at 20 psi on stock internals up at 5500 feet. in texas i ran the car at 40psi and never got to dyno it but im guessing at that psi i was up near 400whp lucky i didnt blow the motor...very lucky

Im pretty certain a t3t4 setup will anialate a sc 2.8 if launched right. The t3t4 can put down like 320-350hp i think... not 100% positive on those #'s though.

So I think I got it.. the 1996 and 1997 model
of the 2.8 are 12v thus making it 170 hp.. and the 1998 year and up are running the 30v
at 193hp??
Right. Only 10hp ,give or take a couple, can be made from chipped 2.8, in comparison with the 40+hp you'll get from the chipped 1.8. For the $300 I don't think its really worth it. I heard a few ppl say it does make a huge difference above 80mph but thats way too late for me.

Ok, So what would be the best "Bang For Your Buck?" under an engine upgrade for a
lets say (1998 A4 2.8L) ???? lol you guys show check out some stuff on Video Google
, like if you type in A4 its like a bunch of ppl racing or showing them off and sooo many
cars get absolutley dominated, there's this one with a M5 and some wagon lookin' S4
and there swerving through traffic and the M5 just cant keep up ahaha i think its so
funny. and also, I dunno what it is.. I have this urge to get a 1.8T, just because of
the turbo and I know that if I chip it its going to be about a 40hp addition.. but are
they really that unreliable compared to the 2.8's???

Dude, any car is only as reliable as the service history. If you're into modding go with the 1.8. Find one with a nice service history and have fun.

theres a 96' green A4 just like your down the street and it looks soo nice. ur
lucky Yeah, what im probably gonna do is find a 1.8T with low miles and
been serviced and stuff, then I can just take care of it aswell. then I can put
a chip in it.. but now what color to buy? ahahaahaha Black, Silver or DarkBlue.

BLUE!!! DO BLUE!!!

Take your time searching for the right car too man. My dad spent 3 years searching for the right Porsche Carerra 4, and last year he got it, for a REAL good price (44k for the 996 model with 16k on it). Don't rush into this. Getting a car is a commitment.
