battery
What kind of battery are you running in your cars? I gotta get a new one, but im not really getting any good information as far as battery no one raves about one or another. The only thing i need to keep in mind is i'm in chicago so i'll have to deal w/ ******* cold *** weather.
I currently have a Reactor Power Cell Battery that the previous owner put in, its amazing how much power it has for its size its looks smaller than most batteries but i guess that’s what you get for something like $270 for a battery. I have heard really good things about optima though so you might wana check those out
most of the spiral cell batts are good stuff and handle the cold. also I like the fact that some of them can be deep cycled. I acutualy have a wal-mart bat in my car, cus it died while I was at wal-mart. still working and for 35 bucks can't complain
well i would suggest that you might want to take a look at the new AGM ( Absorbant Glass material ) Batteries.
they have good vibration characteristics, they are deep cyclable, and the perform great.
the only 2 minor problems are as follows:
Testing
the SGn batteries connot be tested with a carbon pile tester due its desing and it can only be tested by impadance.
Charging
when AGM batteries are killed conventional battery chargers wont do the trick anymore. Due to the fact that AGM's are a fast recovery batteries the thend to pull up quick in which case an automatic battery charger senses 13.1 volts and it stops charging, at which the battery is probably anywhere between 20-40% of its capacity. So you need a progrmamable charger that will do a quick recovery and then trickle charge for 2-3 hrs to full charge.
Lots of manufactures are starting to use these batteries, most GM (Freedom betteries are AGM, dont let the apearance fool you) crysler just started and for is about to follow suit.
An Optima Red Tops are more than enough for a unmodified charging system (big stereo and big lights and so forth)
