Battery covers??? Maintenance free or low maintenance?

Default Battery covers??? Maintenance free or low maintenance?

I'm trying to get to the battery cells to check the electrolytes w/ a hydrometer on a 1998 A4 2.8L Quattro but I can't tell how to get the tops off. The batter has a 2002 date on it so I'm assuming it's not original. The battery looks just like this one:



But without the individual cell caps, it's just solid plastic over the top.

Am I stuck with a no-maintenance battery or am I just not looking at this right?

there are many types of battery so a picture of yours would be best

Looks like the cell caps unscrew with a screwdriver or quarter.

problem is that's not his battery its from another site so it could be a sealed unit?? but without tags or picture the info is worthless
