The Best Airbox Mod? writeup with pics..
Lol...
Ok if you won't divulge the snow/rain guard, I can 2nd as a tester. Its been raining here for like 3 days straight now and its supposed to rain here all weekend. It snows here lots too (Canada), so... if you want to PM me and I can test out the guard as well to provide a 2nd opinion?
What can I say... I tried.

so i went ahead and did the mod, and it is amazing. The sound is so sick. i stoked for this rain/snow cover to be uncovered though. Cuz i am a little worried about weather situations.
well it rained here all morning and i was out driving around in it for about 45 minutes to an hour .. i got home and checked the airbox.. and nothing.... no water at all.. any little bit of water that does get in there is very minimal and makes its way out of the box.. my filter was not wet at all..
Like I said I put a 1/4' hole in the bottom of the box for heavy rain. I realy dont think you need more than what a4thequattro and I have done to ours. I have been in the rain and so has he. The guard I am building will be more for the snow when it is packed. Altho I din't know if it will work at all yet so we'll see................
The key to all of this is the K&N filter because it will repell water unlike a paper one that will absorb it. Even if it is just a tiny bit of water the oil in the K&N will reject it better than the paper one...............
Soooo CHECK IT OUT GUYS!
I work at a carwash....well i detail
and today we got an SC 300 Lexus in, and i was thinking of this mod, well then it hit me!
As i peeked into the wheel well as i cleaned i noticed there were vents angled down right where the air box mod hole would be! Why is this cool? Go to a junkyard, look around for lexus im sure other older cars have them too, and rip out the vent and bolt it or screw it on top of the air box mod hole, keep the screen but by doing this you prevent water/dirt/debre from entering the hole. It looks like a Z3 fender sideways....i wish i took a pic...
But i am going to do this mod for sure, and i am going to find the same vent off a wheel well lik the SC300 and screw it rigt on top for added security? heh
Trust me this is a great idea
