The one in ohio wants $495 there is one in indiana that is $400, I'll wait the extra day.
I have a feeling the one in ohio is confused thinkng you need a flash, because like i said above, tuners cant jack the price up on it. GIAC doesnt allow it, they have told me. Now, if there is labor involved for removal and reinstalling the ecu or any other supplies, then they can charge for that, and of course there will be tax.. Where in ohio are you talking?? I live in Columbus and it was like $560 for the flash+labor incl tax. Would have been closer to $450 for the solder if i had a pre 2000 i think they said.

Which one in ohio are you talking about? I'd just tell them you'll go to the other place cause they are cheaper. See what they say.

for a 2001 1.8t is there a big difference in hp between giac and apr due to the larger turbo and apr being designed for 93 octane?

i am noticing a surging in my car and the turbo is wicked loud (used to have a 1g talon tsi with a cyclone motor form japan and push 16 lbs of boost through a tdo5h that wasnt anywhere near as loud) is this a problem? i think maybe it is the diverter valve but i should replace that anyway when getting chipped right?
