bigger rotors
alright, i have to replace my rotors and i was thinking of getting some drilled ones. Say i were to get some that are bigger than stock, would this mean i would have to replace my calipers or anything else as well?
remember though bigger rotors add rolling weight and increase inner wheel inertia.... a trade off for a little more stopping power. If you think you need the power and have the hp/weight reduction in wheels to counter it, then i say go for the bigger ones, otherwise you'll see better results with x-drilled or slotted rotors and stainless steel lines. I put Zimmerman x-drilled and SS lines on mine, biggest diff i ever noticed was from the steel lines; there's no play in the pedal feel and the brakes are "there" EVERY time from minimal-zero line expansion and they never fade unless i'm on the track.
The A8 brake kit is popular... 1" bigger than stock -- uses 312mm rotors. Places like ecstuning sells the kit... or you can buy rotors for a 1999 Audi A8 4.2Q, and track down caliper carriers for an Audi TT. That's what I did.
