Default Block heater (can one be installed)

I have a 2000 2.8Turbo A4 and found that there is no block heater on it and we have very cold winters here, the dealer said there is nothing available, because the oil heater was recalled due to fires,is this true. Please let me know what my options are, someone must deal with cold weather on here. Thanks

There has to be block heaters...otherwise they wouldn't sell any in Saskatchewan

Well that's what I thought, I live in Alberta and we get our fare share of weather from the mountains

Check out aircraft engine heaters. Most of the fleet planes I've flown with piston engines have heaters. Tanis is the primary manufacturer and they come in the form of heated pads (mini electric blankets) made from a red silicone impregnated mesh that is simply bonded to any part of the engine you choose. Most common place is the oil pan but I have seen them applied to the crank case as well.
