Wow all this oil talk! Right the car is costing £5k (around $10k) including, all audi:

1. New engine
2. New Turbo
3. New Clutch
4. Belts pumps etc.

Will check what oil they are putting in and let you know! The dealer still wont give me anything so we si going to court!

$10K???

I'd make that a big negative. If you can get the engine for $5k, then wheres the other 5k come in.

I could see the turbo being near 1k.
Let's say the belt's and pump another 1k.
Clutch $500 or so.

7.5K is still rediculous IMO.

You could rebuild it for less than that AND upgrade the turbo.

I just had one done a few months ago. I think the part was around like $300 or something and the labor was about $250. It's a big job. You gotta drop the pan which ain't easy.

That sucks man, sorry to hear that. My friend just blew the motor in his '03 WRX, and the dealer is trying to screw him out of his warranty.

Hi mate, it did seem a touch expensive but trust me I tried a lot of dealers, specialists, breakers etc and couldnt get a recon engine or the job done any cheaper. In the end it has cost me 6k for:
(includes all labour and VAT 17.5%)
1. New Audi Short Engine
2. Audi Turbo
3. Clutch Kit
4. Variator
5. Steering pump
6. Sensors and rewiring
7. Air Con regassing and fixed
8. Brakes, pads and discs all round

The car has been running reallly REALLY well till I mashed up the wing mirror driving last night!!!! oops!
