Not for me. I'd take the Z4 over the TT. The M3 vs RS4 is a close one, but it would depend on what I wanted from the car (track events = M3). A4 is an easy one, as well as the A8. I don't like the TTs at all, never have...even before I knew they were a FWD platform and didn't have real Quattro. The M3 just has better handling characteristics for the track, but on a dragstrip or all season performance I'd take the RS4.

Personally I'm happy that Audi doesn't have the reputation of BMW or MB. A lot of people see MB and BMW drivers as being pretty stuck up and/or dumb yuppies. Of course it depends on the car, but what do you see everyone driving? Base model 3 and 5 series which means they obviously just went for the brand name. But you don't hear anything about Audi drivers. And people respect the Quattro

I kinda like how Audi seems understated to the general public. Everybody and their mother drives a bimmer. Most people don't know anything about cars anyways, they only buy the brand name, who cares what they think, I know what Audis are all about. I'm not taking anything away from bmw they make great cars, but for me its Audi FTW.

 

what about 4matic?

 

4matic is ok. I mean any all wheel drive system is better than FWD. But show me the Mercedes 4matic that was trailing an Audi at a rally.... you couldn't because it never happend. I just think Audi has a great technology and any other is just an imitation!

I have an '02 A4 Avant, and an '03 325xi. My 3.0 will smoke my wifes 325, but after spending a lot of time driving both, the BMW , in my opinion, is just a little higher up on the quality scale. I LOVE my A4, and I feel like I got a lot more car for the money, but car for car, I think the Bimmer is slightly better. Sorry. Flame on!

I definitely don't believe that BMW's are crap by any means, but I completely agree that they are more widely purchased for status. But then again, I'll be honest...when I bought my A4, I had status in mind. My parents could afford either a VW or an Audi, and although I knew I would get quality and a long life out of either, I definitely wanted the Audi more. And that was way before I ever found these forums or even thought about modding whatever car I got.

 

BMW's are most certainly not crap..... The quality of people driving them may however be crap.... Before I went with another Audi, I test drove a new 3 series, and it was very nice, but for me it came down to styling and the fact I enjoyed my old Audi. I guess it's natural for people to hate what they don't drive, but common to call BMW 3 series 'crap' is ignorant.
