It all depends on wat you want to do with your motor.
It dosent just end with boring out your cylinders,
you will need over size pistons which you will need to
increase your valve shrounding, by doing this you will affect
your volumetric efficiency rate, cozing the spark to travel
further in the cylinder bore, so more advance will be needed
Which means you will have to remap your fuel and ignition system
for efficiency...

So for power gains it might work against you
Cost?it will vary from differnt machince shops
But it can be done

shaun's right, if you just bore out the cylinders and get the os pistons you'll probably experience a power loss. to get any significant gains i'm gonna estimate probably 2-3 grand....now, if you wanted to get REALLY serious with your 2.8, you can bore out the cylinders, remap your **** and do everything else that goes with it, and THEN, get the s/c...that would be a pretty mean car.

actually, that's probably a bad idea. audi had a reason for making their 2.7TT, instead of just the 2.8TT. there's probably not much boring that can be done on that engine without making it too weak.

If you bore you going to weaking the structer of the engine block
so any extra HP is going to make more heat and your engine is not going to last
that long
you might get a Conrod through t the block, thats a pretty site

APG it has been very apparent to me that you are really looking for some more power but love Audis too much to get anything else. I have read numerous post about you wanting s4's, a 1.8, and now asking about bore and stroke. Have you yet thought about an engine swap? Swapping for a 1.8 might not be too bad of an idea. Just a sugest.
