Default Bose sound system

I have a 97 a4 with the Bose sound system...everything factory. Do you recommend aftermarket speakers, in-dash radio, cd changer, subs to upgrade the sound system? Please share your experiences on sound upgrades for 97 B5 A4's.

basically it all depends on your budget....for a good headunit i would recommend a pioneer premier, alpine, or clarion; for subs alpine type-r's, 2 12 inch, and a memphis 1100d to power them; interiors jl's or alpine type r's- just make sure that the depth of the speaker will fit if you want the stock look and do not feel the need to drill through the door panels. that would be a great start, you could also cut corners, if you want an aftermarket headunit you can wire it directly to your existing speakers etc. etc.
i have alpine type r's in my trunk with a memphis amp - for the $$ they are the best thing out there.
if you live near jersey i can hook you up, i have an account with a few stores...

I would go with an alpine touch screen head unit, MB Quart mids and highs, a couple JL Audio 10's and a JL Audio amp. Nothing too big that sounds great.

Or, use the factory Bose system as it sounds awesome.

I would recommend NOT changing out your deck or speakers. i would add a sub (you can tap into the wires running to the stock amp in the trunk, so the only wire to run to the front of the car would be the power)...and maybe change the stock speaker amp to something a little more powerful. your speakers are already awesome...the deck could be better, but not much better, and any aftermarket deck you find won't look as clean as the stock deck. also, many stereo installers won't even bother with audis because they are a pretty big PITA

LOL. My buddy has one and he loves it. I think it just depends on who has one. I'm not too into the touch screen stuff myself. I would rather have a normal t.v. or none at all and just a nice head unit. I like Clarions a lot.
