Default Sport package question about 97 a4 1.8tq

I just bought a used 97 A4 1.8T Quattro with the Sport Package. Can anyone tell me the difference between the sport package and a stock A4? Is there any difference in performance? Suspension?

i dont think theres much diff, the suspension is stiffer. i think the wheels are the same size, but there the sport wheels, not the standard 5 spoke, and you get the fancy steering wheel.

I have 1998 sport. The sport steering wheel could be a separate option but was included in the package with the 16in 7-spoke wheels, and the stiffer/lower suspension which is I've heard 30 mm lower than standard and might have bigger sway bars. Look at other B5's (A4's like yours) that just have 5 spoke wheels, they sit noticeably higher. Also you can look at your springs and you should notice that they are either red when you wipe off the dirt or they have a few red marks on them (I've heard both, mine have some marks). The sport steering wheels have 3 spokes instead of 4. Performance is the same.

Will the lowered and stiffer suspension of the sport package improve my ride handling? Will it allow me to take corners faster and do doughnuts with ease on my automatic?

lmao, donuts with ease??? You'll get nothing like a NASCAR burnout, but I've managed a full circle with tires squealing and some nice burnt rubber on my automatic. Cornering will be better with the lower stance, less body roll. The ride handling w/ the sport is a little rougher than I felt in a non-sport. I guess you have to feel the differences for yourself, but you already have the sport so be happy.

sport package is stiffer springs, stiffer shocks, and stiffer sway bars. the ride quality is consequently..yes, you guessed it..slightly stiffer.

to answer your somewhat ridiculous second question..yes it will allow you to take corners faster..no it will not allow you to do doughnuts with ease in your automatic.
