bought new audi 2004 A4 1.8T
The red A4 had a 2.8 and the new 04 model has a 1.8T. What should I look for engine wise in the next few months. the mileage is 67,000 and they say its best to change the timing belt at 75,000 is this true? And how long does the timing belt made to last?
congrats on the new ride! at 75k, it couldn't hurt to do the timing.... im sure you could wait to 90k or so if you are willing to. From what I understand, the newer models(i.e. yours) can last a little longer according to the dealer and manual. How long is left on your warrenty?
With the A4 1.8T, you DO NOT WANT TO LET YOUR TIMING BELT BREAK!!!! My mechanic has told me several horror stories. Two instances took over $2.5k to rectify... and he works at an Audi dealership. Say what you will about dealerships, but I wouldn't wait another second if you can afford to change your belt now.
Congrats on the new ride! The 2003 Audi maintenance schedule for a 1.8Tstates 105K for timing belt.Leads me to think they expected it to last that long. I am going to do mine at 90K to be on the safe side.
