bov..?
i own a STOCK 1998 a4 1.8t and was looking for some help on finding a good bov or dv. not sure which one is better if anyone could tell me the price and the pros and cons of haveing one. Could i get one and strap it on and would it make the tssss noise?
Oh noes.
Best get your flame suit on...
Anyways, first bit of advice is to do a search. You'll find SO much info on this topic.
For the most part though, BOV's are to be avoided like the plague... DV's are what we need. You can find a bit of info on valves that do a bit of both. Search and you will find what you're after.
Welcome! Is this your first Audi? Congrats if it is!

Ok, heres the deal.
Our cars are designed to run DV's... Although if you have a need for the Bov sound you can experience it

The fairly new Forge Valve designed a product that is 85% DV, 15% BOV... it offers the sound your looking for without the risk of having your engine run lean or rich.. whatever the case is <--- Fixed.
Don't get a 100% Bov, you can make them work, but its not likely.. unless you reallly know what your doing I recommend strongly against them.
Stick with 100% recirc DV, or go with the Forge Valve.
Hope that shed some light on you, good luck

Am i thinking backwards or ??
But i thought having a BOV on a car thats not designed for it would make it run richer.. since the ECU has calculated the air amount already via the MAF, and it has adjusted the amount of fuel needed for that amount of air. The BOV dumps the air back into the atmosphere but the ECU thinks its still there.. is that right?

Ones that are closed at idle make up for the lost air, no richness, no idle or stalling problems either.
But a forge 007, or splitteror even the new apr R1 dv would all be great choices.
