Default BOV AND DV

I know everyone gets all amped up when questions about this occur, but I was wondering why kids in my part are putting BOV's on their 1.8T golfs when everyone here says it's not good for the 1.8T engine. Is there a slight difference between VW's and Audi's or do they just want the swoosh sound.

Thanks thats what I figured. Also is the Bosch 710N gonna work just as good as say a Forge type or bailey's.

from what i've heard the 710N is fine as long as you only chip your car. if you plan on adding on a turbo upgrade later on it won't hold the increased pressure

Question is the Forge louder than the 710N, being that it's aluminum as compared to plastic? I know the boost pressure is the same so it doesnt really matter. I kinda just always wondered about this.

i just have a stock intake but i can tel you that my forge doesn't sound that loud.

is the DV in that clip reversed? or is it in the standard way?

i was thinking of reversing mine.....but i pushed on the piston and i couldn't really see how it alone was going to hold back 14 psi. The greddy typeS on my turbo '69 beetle seems the opposite of the DV on the audi (boost pressure against face of piston), but the spring is much stronger

I'm not too familiar with the audi set up, but on my MR2 tubby, you could put a bov on a car with a map sensor, but not an AFM, because of the positioing of the sensor, and the fact that the afm would fuel taking the air that you had vented into account. Is this the same for the 1.8T? Why is a bov a no-no? Not gonna use one by the way, but just out of mechanical curiosity!
