Which BOV to get? and dont give me crap on DV
just put it this way i used to own a sr20det and ur not gonna be able to through as much power at a 1.8t as u will on a sr20dets stock internals. nor r u gonna make it as fast for the money or work. u better read up on these cars alot before u make ur desicion. just my opinion. i got mine for luxry and i knew i could make it decently fast but not crazy fast.
by the way i run a go fast bits hybrid diverter valve and havent had any problems till now. ive been noticing that its blowing off before i shift makin me lose boost so im switchin that thing out. if you are running a high boost application i dont recommened these but other than that i loved it and had no richness or idle problems when i was pushin 10 psi

Yup, the 1.8t wont make you any happier. It's actually slower than the 2.8, you will need to drive a modded one in order to like it. For turbo size, think of a soda can, the comp is about as tall as that, and the inlet is a little bigger than the size of a quarter. I posted a comparison pic of the ko3 (stock), gt28rs, and 18g and you can see how small the stock on compares. If you want to drift you will need a rear anti-roll bar, and alot of power. The 1.8t will hold 350whp and then depending what year you have, one guy made 491whp on stock internals. The problem with vw/audi's is that we have no piggyback tunable systems like xede, utec, hondata, etc. From the power you are looking for I'd go with a gt28rs, should get you the drifting abiliuty and the power you are looking for.
I can spin my tires and Tom can obvisouly really spin his. I can spin all 4 through 1st with a lil moist ground. Like you said, you have to drive a modded/bigger turbo one to get the feel for them.
Not really looking to do anything big right now, won't swap an SR20
until this motor blows on me in about 10 years. I actually liked the 1.8T I drove today better than the 2.8
You don't have to flog the 1.8 to get it to go. It felt adequate and I could feel hidden
ponies in there somewhere.
Couple of questions:
There was this constant ticking by the airbox...what is it?
The clucth on this thing feels like it has no pressure at all..is that normal?
I didn't even have to try to put the clutch pedal in...I figure it might be
one of those cushy German luxury features. I got back in my car and was like
**** this thing is stiff!
The BOSE sound system and the comfort has me sold, I really like it.....Im getting a grand from the kid
on monday.

What year was the 1.8? Mine's a 2000, and has a pretty stiff clutch... my parents 2002 is a lot less stiff... but yeah, my audi's clutch feels like my camaro's clutch, almost :P
Once you chip the 1.8, you'll have a taste of whats to come... upgrading the turbo should satisfy you... the SR20DET's put in the little 240 makes for a fast machine... but even if your audi runs slower, it'll be 100x nicer overall.
I thank god my car was chipped when I bought it... I hardly remember what a 150 hp a4 feels like, I drove one a few years ago... I figure, if I bought my car with 150, then chipped it... I'd have been bitten by the mod bug -- and probably bankrupt myself.

the ticking is normal...although i can't remember what it is that makes the noise.....my clutch is also very soft, and it's got about 25k miles on it.....also, a stock 2.8L (the 30V anyway) should feel noticably faster than a stock 1.8T, it may have just been the car you drove was in bad shape..
Yeah thats true... I drove a 30V and it was adequate... felt like it'd be a great highway car, would pull through traffic nicely without downshifting. My parents old 96 was getting tired... it felt like a bit of a dog, but still, a super nice ride. I like the leatherette from 96 a bit more than my 2000... the perforated leather doesnt seem as durable, although the seat's shape is nicer for 2000. Ugh. Ya cant win!

, and i spun tires all through 1st, I love my stage 3clutch and ko4.
