Nightstalker, you are new to audis i take it. Audis turbo system is closed loop, you DO NOT want to run a bov unless your running a totally custom job with a massive turbo. You will ruin your cat and foul plugs doing it. I am running more boost(23psi) and a bigger turbo than you ,and still use a baily dv, i suggest you read up on audis turbo systems, your not driving a dsm now.

Don't listen to these guys. If you want a BOV get a BOV. I think BOVs are silly but if that is what you want get one. Check out the GFB Hybrid valve that is sold by New Dimensions (www.ndauto.com). It should give you the best of the DV and BOV worlds and is adjustable so that you can tinker with the sound it makes and make sure you have enough air recirculated to maintain the proper air-fuel mixture.
The thing is there is no best of both worlds, because there is nothing good about having a bov period. It is harmful to the car. I have a dv and I wish I could make it quieter.

Nightstalker: A DV does the exact same thing, releasing the pressure to preserve the turbo, BUT it is made to be rerouted unlike a bov. Also a bov is closed at idle while a dv is not therfore a bov will also run rich at idle even rerouted

Did you not read that I said recirculated? RECIRCULATED MEANS TO PUT THE AIR BACK IN THE SYSTEM KEEPING IT CLOSED.
Be careful to read before you start insulting someone.

By they way DV and BOV are the same thing. I have my BOV recirculated so there is no difference. An aftermarket BOV is better at releasing pressure.

How in the hell can a closed loop (recirculated) BOV run richer than an open recirculated DV? If air is escaping the system it will run rich, if air is staying in the system wether it goes through a DV or BOV or not it will run stoichimetric.

Hybrid RECIRCULATED DOES NOT MEAN FULLY RECIRCULATED unless you completely close the bov - which then means you effectively have a DV. If you leave the hybrid partly open, you are still not recirculating ALL THE AIR. You will still run rich, you wll still have the majority of issues that a regular bov has.

Nightstalker - he is not insulting you. Since when is offering a point of view considered an insult? Maybe a pulic message board is not for you.

Yes - in your case a BOV is a DV when you have it completely close off - but its no longer a BOV now is it? It blows nothing off... but a BOV and a DV a VERY different animals.

Ok so now im not qualified to talk about turbos because my post count isnt as high as yours. You have no idea who you are talking to, I was probably building turboed cars before you even had pubes on your *****.

Listen here, if you dont have a way of taking pressure off the system when the throttle plate is closed then guess where that pressure goes back to? THE TURBO. That will cause major turbo damage to the shaft seals and blades. A DUMP VALVE AND BOV are the same damn thing kids! Heres a news flash I have a BOV that is recirculated. Its like NOS and Nitrous, same **** different *******. i thought we were here to help not to carry around big europen egos. Get over yourselves. Geez....

another thing...
WTF does this mean? I run 15-18psi on my car every day. Have done so on two cars for a total of 4 years... I never had any turbos blow because of it.
If I didnt have a BOV on my car boosting 15psi I would be going though a turbo at least every 3 months.

And NO, the recirculated air does not go back to the turbo - it goes back to line leading to the AIRBOX. It prevents the MAF from getting implausible readings and throwing a/f ratios. YOu need to do some reading on turbo systems.

I have no ego, BUT I DO have information and knowledge that is factual through experience. There is nothing worse than bad information on a forum, and thats what you are giving.
