brake failure..... I love it
Ok, so i was taking my mom over to her parents for ice cream, all was good untill i came to a "T" in the road. So i started to apply the brakes slowly, but i noticed i wasn't stopping so I pushed harder and pretty soon I was too the floor. Now, luckly for me, im an expeirence E-breaker. But i was coming up on this "T" pretty fast and instead of sliding out in the highway i threw it sideways perfectly so i was parrell with the other road. Now, my is mom wondering what i just did and im wondering why my breaks didnt work. So, I pumped them a couple times and I felt brake fluid pump back up. So i went home and the brakes worked, just they were very rough and didn't feel right. I did however install a new bypass valve today, is there anything around there i could have to hit to spark this problem???
Damn, that's frightening. The DV is completely independent from anything having to do with the brakes. You've got a 1.8t, right? If so, the DV is passenger side just up under the shroud and the brake master and fluid well is driver side up top by the washer fluid well. So it probably couldn't be nicked by a tool or something. What does you brake fluid look like, is it scorched at all? How low was it after this?
It's in a clear container on the drivers side right in front of the plastic cover that goes over the space behind the firewall where the battery is. It's got a green cap on it in mine and it's a little behind and between the coolant reservoir and the washer fluid reservoir. Damn, I hope that made sense.
Yeah, most likely they'll carry them. Check those rotors on the front, you can put pads only on those once and the second time, you've got get new rotor too. These days you can get cross-drilled for about the same price as standard rotors.
Wow i didnt know i could only replace them once, i hope they havent been replace before. My aunt died(rest her soul) and i need my car to drive to her veiwing and funeral is 2 hrs away, so im hoping i can have this fixed by tomorrow afternoon. I think compared to alot of cars the audi stock brake system is pretty good.
No offence meant, but you just had catastrophic brake failure!!!!
You don't know where the brake fluid reservoir is.
This doesn't sound like a pad problem, but rather a hydraulic problem as you say they "pumped up".
Perhaps you would be better off having a professional repair your brakes before you have to attend another funeral (ie your own)!!!!
