Brake Warning Light
Hello everyone, I am new here and new to Audi. I just purchased a 2002 A4 3.0 6 speed with 41,000 miles. I have had the car for about a week and have had no issues with the vehicle. Today, the first really cold day of the year in Michigan, my brake warning light was coming on intermittantly on my way to work along with the beeping. I tried restarting the car but it continued. I read in a post that this can be due to a low voltage issue from a cold start, has anyone experienced this? Also, the fix is to replace the relay with a low voltage relay, is this referring to the main ABS relay and if so where can I find a low voltage replacement? Should I just take the vehicle in and have the code read? All service has been done on the vehicle and just had the 40,000 maint done at 37,000. Any suggestions, help is appreciated.

Which Brake light. The red one that Says "Brake". Don't ignore that one. Could be low brake fluid level or serious hydraulic failure. have it checked immediately. Don't assume it is a "relay" problem.
If it is the yellow circle in the LED center display, that is your brake pad wear light. Your front brake pads are worn and should be replaced soon.

It is the red brake light. It didn't do it as much last night on my way home, it was a bit warmer by then, but it was more predominant on my way to work again this morning (colder). I checked the fluid level last night, I didn't see the max/min line on the resevoir; is it hidden under that black shroud? I didn't see the fluid up near the top of the resevoir either, which leads me to believe it is low. Also, I noticed the light only really comes on when the car is moving quite a bit (going around a corner, under heavy acceleration, etc.) which leads me to believe the fluid level is just low enough so that it can trick the sensor when moving around. I will add some fluid today and see if that fixes the problem. Does that sound like a good diagnosis?
Thanks.
