i was driving today and i stopped at a light, and i had my window down (which i normally never do) and i heard a weird noise, sounded like my brakes. However my car only has 30K miles on it. I hope its just the brakes. But my question is 1. how much would pads/service run? 2. how long do they normally last? 3. to get this serviced should i take it to an audi dealership? or would any other car service location work as well? Thank you very much for any responses.

 

Check with the dealer, because they may be under warranty.
If not, find an independent shop.

 

depends on shop labor rates, pads used, driving style and resurfacing the rotors/new rotors for cost and life. Most will go 30-50k miles depending on pad material and again, driving style.

 

ur looking at like 380 bucks for new front pads and having them resurface ur rotors...the dealership will be a lot more expensive but they'll do it right...pads should last u around 30K with moderate to heavy driving.

noone has asked what type of "noise" you heard... describe it,

 

You can get really nice pads and new stock brembo rotors for under $200 and will take a first timer under 2 hours for labor. I would never pay $380 for crappy pads and old rotors.
