Default brakes/rotors...

So it looks like its time for me to replace my brake pads. I took the car in to have the tires rotated and I was also informed that my rotors are below spec. What are the best pads and rotors for me to buy. Now take into mind that I dont want to spend a fortune, but for quality I know I might have to. Also, since im going to be doing the rotors, should I go ahead and get some slotted/cross drilled ones? thanks guys...

ecstuning.com .. or purems.com .... both have good prices on OEM rotors.

dont get slotted or drilled.. if you HAVE to have one of them get slotted.. but not drilled.

whats wrong with getting drilled? I thought as long as you go with a manufacturer like Zimmerman who cast the holes would be alright

cross drilled tend to crack and dont last as long..

get slotted with mintex red box pads.

There are advantages and disadvantages to cross drilled and slotted rotors. They've been hashed over and over here. Go slotted if you must...

I say if you're not putting your A4 on the track go buy the cheapest rotors you can. You can get fronts for under $30 a piece, and don't let people tell you they're bad quality. They're designed to meet OE specs. I've used the cheap rotors on all of my cars and some friends cars and they've held up great.

Take a look at ceramic brake pads. I like them because they have much lower dust than regular pads. They do cost a little more though. Something to think about.

I did not notice more squeal when I put them on my Honda. I currently have regular pads on my Audi and they squeal at low speed under light pressure. I will be changing them to ceramics this week, so PM me in a month and I will let you know how they are on the Audi.

I didn't see more squeal, others will have other opinions.

I have PBR ceramics. Along with the brembos the braking is much better over stock but for some odd reason the rears squeal under light pressure when warmed up, it gets really annoying. I'm gonna switch rear brake pads to see if it goes away. The brake dust is just as bad as OEM though.
