When you do a brake check you can see for youself which pads need to be changed. I usually check them out once a month or every 2500 miles.

my light is on as well. It comes on and goes off. yesterday, it was on all day. I have a good feeling its simply because of the cold at this point, messing with the sensor. Ill check the fluid just to make sure.

If your brake pads are low the brake fluid is gonna read as low becasue your calipers are pushed out a lot. when you get new brakes the calipers are pushed back in and your brake fluid level will go back up. Get new pads before adding fluid otherwise when you get new pads your just gonna take fluid out.

This indicator will come on many times for brake fluid. It might
come on every 15K mi. needing brake fluid. Front brakes
should last 50K to 70K mi.

The dealer gave me new pads front and rear at 50K mi.
At 119K mi. my rear pads needed to be realaced. As
philmeister said the rears go first with no warning. At 120K mi.
the (O) lit up, and I replaced the front pads. There was plenty of
material left on the front pads when the electrical loop was
broken.
