Default Breather Valves 2010 A4

My car started making a loud screach and I took it to the shop. They told me that the breather valves need to be replaced. They are charging me $300 for this. I want to know if they are charging too much and if I can actually take it somewhere else. Audi's service department always does a great job but they are so expensive.

You should call your dealer with the vin number and see if it can be replaced under a TSB. If your car has under a certain amount of miles and falls into that TSB vin group category you might not have to pay for the job to get done. This is if you are talking about the valve that bolts to the side of the valve cover on your 2.0, there is a metal tube that has a check valve in it, matched to the appropriate part number valve. You'd want that replaced too if needed. Depends on the vin and if your car has that tube on the engine already.

Thank you Jeff. I got it serviced at the dealership. I have 76k miles on it so I no longer have warranty and my extended warranty doesn't cover it, go figure. It's running good now and I hope I don't have to take it back for a while. It's a great vehicle and I love it!
