Default broken fog lights.

Just a few questions, Both of my front fogs have the glass lense broken, one is just cracked and the otherhas the glass completely broken out andthe bulb is nowtotally exposed. I was wondering if this is a common thing due to rocks on the highway or was it someone vandalizing my vehicle.

Has anyone had to change both foglight assemblys? and if so how much shouldI expect to pay for the parts to fix it.

Should I cover the exposed bulb with something while driving?

Thanks guys for all the help!

Both fog lights are damaged and at the same time?! Yea, I'd put vandalism at a 90% chance.

Last fall I was on my way home from work when we had some flooding. I drove through about a foot+ of water and stupid me didn't realize I had my fogs on. Sure enough, several seconds later my dash lights up like the car is in catastrophic failure... I blew the bulbs. The fog light housing wasn't damaged at all really, just a bunch of minor scratches on the reflective surface. I think that means they're fairly tough so vandalism sounds like a reasonable conclusion.

When I changed the bulbs, the assemblies came out quite easily. No instructions needed, just some low-level reasoning. The dealership only sells the complete housings for about $80/each so that's what it will cost you. Definitely do it yourself.

By the way, I have a favor to ask. Check out this post I made a few days back:

If you have a match, I would really appreciate you selling me the adjustment screws you salvage from the old housings when you replace them with new ones. I don't want to buy a whole new housing just for this thing. Even if it costs me $10, at least it's not $80!

hey man thanks for the input! i think im going to try and have my work cover the costs because im almost 100% sure it happened while i was parked in the parking lot of the hotel. and thats where they require you to park, anyway, i have a 2000 so im not sure if the adjustment screw is the same or not. but if you want them anyway i can send them to you for free. and your right the glass covers are amost a half inch thick so it would have to be a huge rock to break them on the highway or something.
