Looking for suggestions. I have an '03 A4 1.8T Quattro with 193k kms. I've been smelling burning oil or something similar for the past two weeks while my car is idling. While driving, no problem and the car has been working just fine. The car is not burning oil and never has. The only thing I suspect right now is that it's the air filter I replaced a few weeks ago. I had a generic air filter for the past several months until I re-installed the OEM K&N filter. I cleaned the filter with K&N filter cleaner which includes oil application at the end. Did I apply too much and this is leaking somewhere? I followed the directions. To rule this out i'm going to buy a generic filter soon and try that. Please and thanks.
