burning smell - PLEASE HELP!!!

Default burning smell - PLEASE HELP!!!

people i am really concerned...
i havee this 99.5 Audi a4 1.8 Turbo Quattro... and when i hit the gas really hard, a burned smeel comes in through the A/C... is that normal? it is not something really sharp, but u know, i have just bought it so it concerns me... it just happens when the cars go over 7000 rpm... it smels like something is burning

first of all, if you ever rev you're car past 7k again, punch yourself. what kind of oil do you use?

i didnt let the car do it.... it was on the automatic transmission....

what does it smell like? oil? coolant? rubber?? i have a coolant leak, it drips onto my exhaust so i can smell it when i reverse or take off real fast and when i sit at an idle for a long time....

i think it smells like burned oil... i know nothing about cars.. but i think that is the problem... i think i have a oil leak in the car... is that bad?

Its nothing like your engine is gonna fry but you should get it fixed. And don't rape the poor thing. The only reason it should do that is if you have it on tip and you "forget" to shift it. Even so you have to know it aint shifting. Careful with that cuz it'll be a new problem you'll have to fix.

Hey Pirate, were is you coolant leaking from? I have a leak too but I can't quite tell where it is coming from.

go to like autozone or advanced and ask them if they have a coolant leak detection kit. very easy to use except you'll need to change your coolant afterwards
