To buy or not ... rear bumper seperation
I may be purchasing this vehicle but I am not sure if this is something that is an easy fix (common problem) or not. The rear bumper at the wheelwell has a bit of a gap. Now I had a problem like this on my last 2001 Audi but it was on the front bumper and it was just that the bumper came off a clip. Maybe from when the timing belt was changed. This is not from a timing belt change...now the CARFAX check outs fine on this vehicle no accidents. So I am just wondering if this may be a clip as well and something to not worry about.

Most of the time, that is because the car has been wrecked. Minor incidents are easy to get repaired w/o letting carfax know. I used to work in a bodyshop, and one of the hardest things to to was to get the new bumper to match up perfectly. It almost never does. But you might get lucky and see it missing a clip too. It looked in the pics like there was some paint missing where the bumper had rubbed something, so that could still fall into either category. But if you are getting an awesome deal, and the car drives at highway speeds with no shimmy/shake/rattles, then I would still get it.
When you say wrecked....what does that mean. What could I check for under the car to verify. Will I be able to see this clip if it is broken or not. I think the guy is being honest with me, but I am going to look at it and bring it to the Audi dealership nearby.
It is a pretty good deal but nothing to brag about. I was looking for something with low miles and a 2001. This car has 48K, so I have a bit of time before the timing belt change. The body besides that bumper looks great. Maybe just a bit of sag in the front drivers door but I had that on my last 2001 Audi. Is there anything else I should have specifally looked at while I have it in there.
Thanks,
Pete
