Ok so I'm planning on doing MAJOR construction on my car... I have been doing a lot of research on these forums and yet there is still a few questions that are burning in my head... Is the ECU chip really worth it for my car? I read a lot of threads with very happy ECU chip customers, but they all had turbo A4s. I DO actually highway race with my car (I just actually beat a BMW 3 and 5-series tonight in a 5 mile highway race that ended on the GW Bridge).

So is the extra 10-20hp and 15-25 lb/ft of torque really worth it?

What kind of chips did you guys have installed?

Was it worth the $$?

Where can I buy it?

Where can I get a Tiptronic Chip for a 3.0? I went on the GIAC site and only saw one for a 1.8t B6.

I don't have a 3.0, but I can tell you that chipping your 3.0 will not give you much improvement. If you really want to improve your car, your ONLY option will be a supercharger. A PES supercharger will set you back $5295, but it will give you 320 HP and 267 TQ.

This is why most of us on here have 1.8/2.0t engines... those engines give you MUCH more options for improvement.

 

I would be interested in a tiptronic chip for the 3.0 as well. 2nd gear kills me right now ... takes about 2 seconds after shifting for the transmission to catch up with the engine. Do you guys get that too, or is it just mine?

yup NY Born and raised... but I just moved to Jersey City, NJ... but I'm in NY all the time... anyway c'mon there HAS to be SOMEONE on these forums with a modded 3.0....

and I'm deffinately not getting a supercharger anytime soon... I paid 13k for my car... not gonna spend more then half the price in mods.... at least not anytime soon lol

I have a 2003 A4 3.0 6spd and well your in for a very expensive adventure. Even the simple things like replaceing cats will set you back a butt ton. Your best bet is to STOP RACEING ON THE FREEWAY. The 3.0 is a mean machine but its a very $$$ one as well. A super or a cutom tubro kit is about all as for the chip its not worth it just get some lighter rims and youll get the same felling lol. JK but thats what it seems. I've been in a chipped and a stock they fell the same and are the same off the line.

 

the chip won't give much power but one thing it will do is give better mpg. if you race you should get a manual

 

how much better mpg? I'm at 15mpg right now... I drive about 55 miles daily and have to refill the tank every 4 days
