Yeah, but im not sure you can purchase the tool seperately. All the techs get theirs when they install a new chain tensioner which comes with the tool. Its not very expensive, i have 3 maybe you wanna buy it?

I see one on ebay. I dont need it, at least now. Ill let you know if i ever do though. Is the cam chain tensioner on a 2.8 similar to the one in a 1.8t i take it? I found this: http://www.robsaudiworld.com/2.8camseal.htm But it doesnt explain how to remove the tensioner. Im guessing you have to remove it all together, both cams/sprokets/chain and tensioner still all in once piece (basically)?? How do you get the cams/sprokets and everything to line up correctly when you put it back together??

1.8 cyliner heads are identical to 2.8 heads just has one less cylinder. If your going to do the tensioner and not the seal you un-bolt both the cam shafts and the tensioner (zip tie the timing belt onto the cam sprocket so it won't lose its timing) then lift the cam shafts and the tensioner from the rear off the head and roll out the tensioner from the chain and ta da. Like it said in the instructions make sure you have exactly 16 links in the chain when re-installing it so it won't throw a cam allocation fault. (Thats the hardest part it can be a bitch to get exactly 16 chain links, it takes practice)

Any suggestions on where I should go from here. The noise is pinpointed its coming from the top-middle-rear(firewall side) of the engine compartment.
Where can I find info on the cam Chain tensioner? I've takenthis to3 mechanics and I have no idea what to do next.

Sorry Cruz, there is two possible reasons the cam adjuster is making a noise, kinda sounds like a diesel engine when you start it right? The most probable reason is the engine is sludged (common) and isn't getting enough oil to the adjuster, have a mechanic check the oil pressure. If its ok change the cam adjuster.

Any tips for checking the oil pressure? My dad says he can do it he needs a place to plug into.
