Default Cams?

Doesn't seem as though too many folks replace the cam shafts on the 1.8t's, why?

Probably because you can get the max power the block can handle with a turbo upgrade, so why spend big bucks on cams that will add power you cant use without upgraded rods.

I think the cams add good power but most people just go for the bigger turbo cuz its easier and their is a higher gain. I wouldnt mind having some cams tho

from what i have read the cam really dont do much unless you go BT, the cams that are out there help out the bottom end to make up for the turbo lag, and with a ko3 or a ko4 there is really no need for a new set of cams.. then there is the tunning problem.. you would have to go standalone to really get the full benifits out of the cams. I think some bit turbo guys on AZ are running some cams, and i know some guys with VW on vortex have cams but they are all BT

yea, if you switch cams you have to run standalone engine management

so for the gains its really not worth it to spend alot of money on cams, then another 2k on standalone

but if you really want to
cat cams
schrick cams
both make cams for the 1.8t

Thanks! I was curious b/c from what I hear; the engine in theTT 225 has a different exhaust cam than the regular 1.8t engine and I wanted to know if it was a worthy upgrade.
