CAn Anyone Help?????

Status: online I am new to the forum. I am glad I found this site because there arent many good mechanics that can work on an Audi let alone trouble shoot a problem. I have a 1998 A4 2.8

I have two problems. First is the sun roof. It opens by itself while I am driving. No particular reason, just at random.

My second problem is more severe. It seems when the car is warm(after driving awhile) there is a hesitation or bucking at a low
RPM. Sometimes a single buck sometimes a few in a row. Right around 1.5 to 2 on the tac. As soon as you give it gas and get passed the RPMs it is fine.

I have taken it to several different mechanics had computers hooked to it while driving and it seems to random to trigger any codes.

Any help with either question would be greatly appreciated.

The sunroof switch is a likely culprit. Mine does the exact same thing. I plan to replace it soon. This is quite common.

my car gets that bucking youre talking about, i don't think it's anything wrong with the car, i'm pretty sure it just doesn't like running at such low rpms. it might also be because your car is running lean. guys, if i'm wrong here, let me know, i'm basing this on my knowledge of motorcycles, not cars.

I've never of being lean causing this problem. Besides if he was too far lean, he'd have a CEL.

Do you have an auto?

my bad, i meant rich. alot of bikes will have similar bucking symptoms if theyre running too rich. but their fuel systems are completely different from cars sooo i don't know

1030, you have a manual right? if you have an auto you almost definitely have some problems.

Pardon my stupidity but I am guesing you mean Automatic. If you do then yes it is an auto. Do not rank on me to bad. I am a noob.

What do you suggest if it is running rich?

I highly doubt it is running rich. Ok try to explain what is happening in more detail. So you begin to give it gas and at 1.5-2k the car beings to buck? Does it seem like it will stall?

No it doesnt seem like it will stall. The hesitation or buck is much to quick. Almost as if one of the spark plug wires is arcing. had new ones put on so I know it is not the wires. I have to say that one mechanic put fuel injector cleaner in the gas, I forget what it was but it went away for about a week and then came back.
