I have a 1997 A4 1.8TQ chipped automatic i do not know if it is tip or not (dont think it is). my question is can i install a ko4 without killing my tranny? I know that i will not be seeking the full potential of the ko4 but i need a little more than a chip. does anyone know the specs of my tranny? what kind of numbers am i looking at for the ko4, exhaust, an ko4 chip?

 

Sure can i have a 1.8t tip and you can pump out around 280hp out of the tranny without problems. Check out level 10 they can do some nice mods on your tranny if your looking for more power.

 

i do not know if i have a tip i think i have the plain automatic. how much horse power can it handle

Correct me if im wrong, but isn't Tip means that you can manually shift up and down?

 

I have a 97 auto as well. Even though its not a true tip, the they still refer to it as such. Its not as much the hp on the tranny you need to worry about as it is the torque. The tranny is good for about 280 torque. You wont be able to have a full nice tuned K04 without messing it up. You can get a regular k04 with giac programing but I doubt youll get away with a pc-16. Also it is highly reccomended to get a TIP Chip. Call awe and give them your TCU (its in your wheel well I believe) and ask them about the tip chip.
