how would i fing out if my MAF is bad? when i changed my air filter to an aftermarket one, i accidently scratched one of the cables that goes to the MAF, its only a small scratch down the middle but the actuall cable is not cut, its only exposed, could that be the problem?

It could be an issue, just tape it up good with electrical tape to be safe.
Unplug the maf, if the idle smoothes out, the the maf is the problem.
