Car dying when driving
i have a 2000 a4 1.8t quattro manual and when i am driving and then i push my clutch in the ca will drop to about 150-200 rpm then sometimes it will act like someone pushes the gas and the rpms jump baqck up to idle but sometimes it just dies. does anyone know what this might be. please help it is very annoying when it dies i have to turn off the turbo timer then i have to start the car back up right in the middle of traffic please help me
do you have a check engine light on? go to autozone and have you codes pulled. it could me a million things but i need a bit more info. have you dont anything to the car reciently? anything that may cause this?
no there is no check engine light on and i havent done anything to the car what else do you need to know sometimes i can catch it before the rpms get that low by tapping the gas
thats difficult to say. it could be anything from the mass air flow sensor, a boost leak, to something wrong with the ecu. do you have any mods? also if this happens when you are moving between shifts just put the car in what ever gear you would be using, give it some gas and pull the clutch out. this will restart the car. do you have the stock clutch and flywheel?
jeff when you say put the car into what ever gear you would be using give it gas and pull out on the clutch what does that mean, i only have a aftermarket exhaust and i would know if i had a boost leak wouldnt i and how do you clean a dirty throttle body
if you are driving at 50mph and you go to shift gears and your call stalls just put the car into 4 or 5th gear and pul the clutch out. the car will restart if you are still moving.
