My wife's '96 A4, 2.8 quatro 5spd just quit on her while she was driving. All the dash lights lit up, and then the engine quit. there's enough power to roll up windows and such, but the engine won't turn over (just get a solenoid click). any ideas?

 

maybe the alternator... was there any noises or did it just turn off??? I would think if it was the alternator than the windows probably wouldnt roll up or anything like that. give us a little more info, usually the 12v 2.8 is dam reliable so its probably nothing motor related... how many miles are on the caR?

 

Either a very bad battery, bad alternator, bad connection.
