Default Car overheating, low coolant and smoke

Today on the way to work I noticed that the temperature guage was 3/4 of the way to H. I just let it go and went to work but on the drive home it went up all the way.
The CTS was on the entire time but I just let that go as a bad CTS sensor. Anyway the car then started smoking (it was white) and it just smelled like burning coolant (i think). The CEL also is on.
I just had the water pump replaced.

I looked on ECS and saw the G12 coolant but it said pink. How do I know what color to use? I don't see any coolant in the reservoir so I can't base it on that. Also not sure how much I need of it. They sell it as 1.5L. Should I get one or more? I have a 99.5.

Since I won't be able to get G12 for at least a couple of days what can I do for now? Just put water in there? If so does it need to be distilled?

All this car has done since I got it is give me problems.

The coolant will be pink but ask for it...call them up even the purple stuff is G12 but you still can't mix them together...but the real iusse is where is the coolant? And why are you shooting smoke out? I don't know what the details are but it sounds to me Head gasket or a crazy leak that you should clearly see where you park at overnight. Does the coolant you have in the tank (little amount yes but still) what color was it? brown? thick? More details coolant is the last thing you should be thinking about at this point

Well the smoke is coming from under the hood not the exhaust. I can't see any of the coolant so I don't know what color it is.

I was thinking of getting a new thermostat but when looking on ECS I noticed 3 diff types:
OE Thermostat- 87C
OE Thermostat- 71C
OE Thermostat- 82C

Not sure which one to get.

I had this same problem... my problem was that the radiator is aluminum and the seals were going, creating the smoke...

all that you can do is get some alumaseal and dump it in there and hope it works, or buy a new radiator... Check to see where the smoke is acutally coming from, is it from in between the radiator, if so this is your problem.

if you cant get g12 in a few days use ONLY WATER. nothing else. and how is the car giving you problems? youre driving it while its overheating. if theres any problems after this its because of your neglect.

and just go to the damn dealership theyll fill it up for free.

Wow the color is pink...now you changed the waterpump and not the therm?? How long have you been leaking coolant? where is the leak? Thats more important then what color coolant...for what ever you put in there...its not there for long.
