car probs! someone help! gas gauge/battery problem
Hi everyone! New to the forum. I am desperately looking for some help on a mechanical problem. First a little history on my 2003 Audi A-4..... 3 months ago had some work done b/c of a manufacturer's defect (sludge in the engine) which thankfully didn't cost me anything, even though I had to jump several hoops to get it done. Two months ago I had a misfire going on so I had new plugs & wires put in & one ignition coil, two weeks later had the other three replaced! Note to everyone who doesn't know....always replace all ignition coils if one goes bad...I had to learn this the hard way!
Anyway...the current problem. Lately, it has been sluggish to start the engine (figured it was due to current cold weather) so I dismissed it. Last night I filled the car up with gas and this morning is when it all started.... The car wouldn't completely start...like the battery was dying, but not completely dead. I hooked up the charger and it finally started, I breathed a sigh of relief thinking okay I just need a new battery or something. Anyway, when I started going down the road my gas light indicator light up, which was strange b/c I had just filled it last night. I went to the gas station to be sure that no one had stolen my gas (you never know), but it was full. Other than that there doesn't seem to be any other problem. Any advice from anyone before I pay a buttload of money for someone to look at it??? Does anyone think there is a connection between the battery & the gas gauge? I assume it is some stupid wiring problem that will cost me a ton (I had a Jetta that had wiring probs & have heard countless others with Audi's & VW's that have had the same). Man, I tell ya I love my Audi, but I am getting pretty frustrated with the cost of maintaining it, which was the reason I dumped the VW Jetta. Any advice quickly would be definitely appreciated! Thanks.
