Car Search Update
I posted this in the A6 forum. I thought that you guys might also be interested in hearing about my car search experience.
LATEST UPDATE
Hey guys,
Okay, here is the latest update. I drove three A6 4.2s yesterday. Two of them were not well maintained at all (literally pieces of junk). One of them recentyhad the timing belt replaced but still ran like crap. Looking into the future, I could envision spending over 3k per year on repairson either ofthese two cars over the next three years ( $9000 in repairs alone.)!!! The third car was too expensive. It was an 03 with around 50k miles (non-certified). The dealer wanted 25k for itandwas not willing to negotiate. Thiswas despite the fact that the car has been sitting onthe lot formore thanfour months!!!!Adding a GE warranty would have added another 3k to the cost. After a long exhaustive search,I decided to forget about buying a4.2. All the nice cars are eitherway too expensive or are located in another part of the country.
Later that same evening I looked at a 2001A6 2.7T.The car seemed fine at first but a carfax revealed that it had been in an accident. I then started thinking about the repair costs if the turbos went. So in order to buy one, I would need to spend another 3k on an extended warranty.
As I was driving home (completely frustrated), I passed an Audi dealership. I made a u-turn and drove into the lot. As I walked in the door, sitting in the showroom was a 2007 A4. I really never paid much attention to A4s before. I always thought that they were a little on the small side and under powered (excluding the S4). I took a 2.0T A4 six speed for a test drive. Wow! This car was quicker the all the A6 4.2s that I drove. According to Road and Track, the six speed A42.0T will do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds (how this is possible, I have no idea). It also handled better than the A6 4.2 (did not feel nose heavy). The interior was also quite roomy (much roomier than the prior versions). Then when I heard about the special lease program ($350 per month for 2 years with a 15k mile allowance on a 40k car+ full bumper to bumper warranty), I was sold.So I am picking up my new A4 tommorrow. As a side note, the new Audi nose is starting to grow on me. Road and Track review:

Thanks to everyone for their input. I hope that you will still allow me to post on the A6 board.

That is a nice buy.
You will definitely like the a4.
How much do you have to bring to the table on the lease? 1500? 2000?
Welcome to our part of the forum, there are a number of guys on here with the 07 a4s already. Not me, but there are some others.
