Default CEL comes on right after leaving dealer!

Well, I couldn't believe it... Odds dealer tries to connive me?
Supercar (aka 98.5 A4 Avant QMS with a mere 103K) went in to the dealer for some proactive work: timing belt, serp belt, tensioner, water pump. I picked the car up, drove off, CEL came on within 50 yards of leaving the dealership. Return to dealer -- wait a bit, get tired and decide to notify GM of my lack of confidence in the service department. Computer is hooked up and code reads "Cam Shaft ... (no I don't have actual value). Dealer says could be overstimulated sensor ("there are so many you know?" he says) or timing belt teeth not perfectly aligned.

Car seemed fine while driving the .4 (point four, yes) miles after leaving the dealership. What are the odds the dealer finds more damage? Or more damage that is the result of their potential failure to do the job properly first time around? Possible damage that they missed that existed before I brought the car in? Is the mechanic, who I was told was going to redo the whole job to be sure it's done right, really gonna end up having to do the entire job all over? Is this the only way to be sure?

Just trying to see how I should prepare for good or bad news and what extra $$$ might be needed. Intelligent speculation and suggested questions I should ask are most welcome here.

I'm a bit concerned the dealer could tell me anything and I'd have a hard time disproving their perspective, especially if they want me to pay more for a new, previously undiagnosed, repair. I'm a bit concerned also that some damage might have occurred.

code is required, all what you have said reverts to a cam sensor but without the code its just a guess

AND try to have them throw in something extra for their mistake. Maybe a free oil and filter change on your next visit (assuming you go back). Work something out. Not only did they screw up and make you wait, but i'm sure you had to take time off from work, which is another inconvenience.

Timing bel;t teeth not perfectly aligned, like maybe the camshaft is off one tooth. Frankly, I'd have them tear down the car again and make sure that everything is connected correctly and that the camshaft didn't slip a tooth.

Thanks for all the good comments! I'll get code(s) from the dealer when they reopen Tues., and post 'em here.

Default code is P0300 (and dealer said possibly P0341)

Dealer informed me just now that code came under the P0300 "category" and went on to say P0341 perhaps but would not say exactly that it was P0341.

I asked if the whole job was redone and he said no -- fix took half hour and was aligning belt teeth properly that fixed it.

So no harm done he says. Agree?
Any more questions I should ask the dealer?

one tooth off will not harm anything, they fixed it for free, if you have problems in the future you can go back to them and blame it on this

P0300 is a multiple misfire detected so its not that because the other code will cause that,

P0341 = cam sensor, sensor A, bank 1 range performance problem faults could be insecure CAM sensor/rotor, air gap, wiring, CAM sensor
