Default CEL question

Ok, I had a mishap with my car, my fault... anyways, there was some suspension damage, got it taken car of by the dealer and just took it like a man. However, I got the car back and 2 days later my CEL came on. I dont have all the time in the world to go and drop off my car because its a bit out of the way and by the time im out of work the dealer is closed. Well, this was maybe a month ago, and I just said when i get to it, ill go in. Time passes and it goes off so I think that it is just some breaking in thing. (altough i dont know why my CEL would go on for suspension work) Later that week it comes on again. My initial reaction then is that my gas cap may just be a little loose, so i tighten it nad continue to drive it because still... no time. Yesterday it goes on for the 3rd or 4th, i cant recall, time. Any ideas on what it could be. Oh, and it was off today again, usually it is on for a few days. I think it might br my gas cap because i tightened it just a little last night and that did it, but i dont know why it would keep going on. Im open to ideas, I also hate the dealer, and dont want to take it there unless i absolutley have to. Thanks

you'll have to go to an autozone and scan your car for the code, there's really no way to diagnose a CEL without knowing what the code is....autozone loans them out for free, though some will make you give them a $180 refundable deposit.

At the autozone and advance auto parts I went to, you have to buy the equipment at full price (brand new) and then return it within 45 days for a full refund... I did this with spring compressors... very very convenient... 45 days is PLENTY of time.. just don't forget!

OH, and it is possible that you get a CEL from the suspension. When I had a pretty bad tie rod end.. and something like ... unstable suspension blah blah.... haha, so there is a code for the suspension, i believe... If I'm wrong, someone strike me down.. ahaha, nah, just let us all know if it's not true.

CEL only goes off if you have an engine problem which affects the emissions. Suspension does not cause a CEL

There are codes in the abs control module for uneven road surface which can cause the check engine light to come on. Never seen a bad suspension part cause that code thou.
