The ICM or power output stage thats bolted to the airbox is faulty. (frequent issue)

Could also be a bad coil pack.

Not a chance on a 99, i never replaced a coil pack on an engine with a seperate power output stage. Replaced about 400 or so ICM's. But its possible, although unlikely

WTF is the output stage!?! ive posted this **** yesterday, no one wants to properly reply explaining wtf isup!
whats it mean if i get Coil Output Stage 1, 2 AND 3 come up on VAG-COM with an electrical malfunction? where are these output stages, the 3 pins on the ICM or the 3 coils????
Plugs are clean.
only problem i am getting is a slight vibration once i get to 60mph!
people on audizine dont even want to explain this!
i have a '96 2.8L V6

On 97-02 vehicles there are what you know as ICM (ignition control modules) what the germans call power output stages.
The what they do is take the signal from the ECM and up the primary voltage to the respective cylinder and the coil pack with the secondary coil fires the spark into the cylinder. On later vehicles 03 and newer the power output stage is built into the coil which means it takes signals directly from the ECM and converts both the primary and secondary voltage spikes, which is why you have bad ignition coils all the time on B6 A4's

thanks.
about 2 months ago i got this code.....
16690 P0306 072
Cylinder 6: Misfire Detected[/b]

then last monthi got a transmission oil flush anddone aVAG-COM. the misfire detected code dissapeared but in its place 3 new codes poped up as follows......
P1393 / 17801[/b]
Ignition Coil Power Output Stage 1: Electrical Malfunction[/b]
[/b]
P1394 / 17802[/b]
Ignition Coil Power Output Stage 2: Electrical Malfunction[/b]
[/b]
P1395 / 17803[/b]
Ignition Coil Power Output Stage 3: Electrical Malfunction[/b]
[/b]
so, this means that pin 1, 2 and 3 (L1, L2 and L3) are bad on the ICM, right? so i just need a new ICM to get rid of all 3 codes?
like i said before, i dont have a major problem execpt a little viration once i reach 60mph, but i just dont want to go out somewhere and then i cant start my car and im stuck when i knew that my ICM was gradualy failing.
