changed pads and rotors... brakes still squeak?
so i changed my rear pads and rotors last friday, it was like i had a paper plates for rotors and potato chip pads... but anywho...
car stops alot nicer now, but it still squeals sometimes? i let off the brake and re-apply and it goes away, but its just kind of frustrating. the fronts were changed 3 weeks before... so i know its not those.. what goin on? |
RE: changed pads and rotors... brakes still squeak?
could still be the front ones did you service the bolts that hold the caliper on with copper grease because these are the pistons to allow free movement of the calipers?? also did you clean any rust of the calipers and seat the pads in good, worth a check and ensure the rear dust covers are not touching the rotors

Bedding the pads properly is key in eliminating squeal on your breaks.

With the right tools its a breeze. If you're changing the front rotors the bolts for the caliper bracket are TIGHT, power tools or a long extension works well. The ABS light more than likely is your ABS module, or if you're lucky a bad/dirty wheel speed sensor.

RE: changed pads and rotors... brakes still squeak?
could be but I doubt it, check for codes with VAG and dont guess on the controller because that's the most expensive part;)
